This Week’s Awards

Daniel Saldaña París, author of Among Strange Victims (trans. Christina MacSweeney, Coffee House Press) won the 2019 Eccles Center and Hay Festival Writer’s Award on November 25.

Sophie Hughes (translator of The Remainder by Alia Trabucco Zerán, Coffee House Pres), Iain Gailbraith (translator of The River by Esther Kinsky, Transit Books), translator Sarah Booker and editor Lauren Rosemary Hook (The Iliac Crest by Cristina Rivera Garza, The Feminist Press at CUNY), translator Charlotte Whittle and editor Bella Bosworth (People in the Room by Norah Langé, And Other Stories), Charlotte Coombe (Fish Soup by Margarita García Robayo, Charco Press), Nancy Forest-Flier (The Story of Shit by Midas Dekkers, Text Publishing) were shortlisted for several awards from the Society of Authors’s 2019 Translation Prize on December 1.

Resistance by Julián Fuks (trans. Daniel Hahn, Charco Press) won the 2019 Jabuti Award.
